Training & Events

SYFAB runs training courses and events to help improve your fundraising skills, knowledge and confidence.

Our training and events are aimed at fundraisers with varying levels of experience, so whether you're new to fundraising or have done several applications already, take a look at our listings below to see what we're offering.

We run our training and events in various venues across South Yorkshire. Each one is open to anyone involved with a community organisation, you don't have to be working in South Yorkshire.

We can also provide specific training tailored to the needs of your organisation. Please contact us us for more information on commissioning SYFAB training in your location.

How to book

You can book your place and pay for it (where required) online. You don't need to register as a website user to book a place, but if you do choose to register, this will give you access to our other online services including the Funding Search and Funding News emails. This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore the principles behind and some techniques for asking businesses and individuals for financial or in kind support.

Meet Sue Wragg, from South Yorkshire's Community Foundation, who will speak about a range of funding streams available for community projects. Peter Foyle, from SYFAB/SYCF will also be introducing a new Impact Guide.

Are you new to fundraising? Feeling a little daunted at the prospect of fundraising? This SYFAB training session gives a basic introduction on how to find funders and present your project.

How do you find the right funder for your project? This session covers what information you need to narrow your search and how to use the SYFAB Funding Search and Knowhow resources to find the right funder for you.

Planning to apply to the Reaching Communities programme? The Reaching Communities master class will help you understand the programme and prepare your application.

Gaining individual donations is another possible way to increase your income. Learn more about how to do this through tools such as online giving platforms, Gift Aid and events.

This is a FREE event in Sheffield for Sheffield groups and organisations. Meet Lizzie Joyce, from Groundwork South Yorkshire, speaking about the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, and Asha Karbhari, from Key Fund, speaking about the Northern Impact Fund.

Would you like to improve how you write a funding application and make your application stand out to potential funders?

Would you like some help with putting your Awards for All application together? This training session will help you understand the programme and prepare your funding application.

Do you need some uninterrupted time to focus on your fundraising? This is an event dedicated to allowing you to work on your fundraising in a supportive environment, and is open to individuals who have recently attended a SYFAB training session.
