Try your local advice centre, or look up the Citizens Advice Bureau in the phone book for help. If you are a student, talk to the student welfare officer or careers officer at your college who might have copies of useful books. The following information is about sources of money for educational grants and for individuals in need. Copies of books may be available at your library. Funderfinder FunderFinder is a small charity producing software and other resources for grant- seekers. They produce a number of free leaflets about funding and fundraising such as Money for Individuals, Awards for Artists, Gap Year Projects and several more. The leaflets are available to download online. FunderFinder People in Need A computer software package that helps identify charitable trusts that make grants to people in need or wanting money to study. There is an annual subscription charge. See website for further details. Family Welfare Association Details of financial and other help available from statutory and voluntary sources. Need to be referred by a professional (eg social worker) or voluntary agency (eg Citizen's Advice Bureau) and initial contact to be made by professional worker on an application form available online. The Educational Grants Advisory Service A national organisation giving information and advice to post-16 students seeking educational and training grants. The service prioritises those who are disadvantaged. The Guide to Student Funding provides advice and information on sources of funding for education and training (including loans, grants, benefits, hardship funds, bursaries and charitable trusts) and is published on the EGAS website. EGAS also offer a Trust Fund Search for students to identify educational trusts they may be eligible to apply to, this service can be accessed online or by post. Lions and Rotary Clubs and Round Tables Sometimes make grants to individuals in need. Your local reference library may have a list of contacts. Charity Search Offers a free confidential advice service to elderly people in need, linking them with charities that may be willing to help them.
